Chandigarh, Dec. 14 -- A local court on Saturday sent a 33-year-old Uber bike rider to judicial custody in a case involving the molestation of a government school student during her commute to school. The accused, Shahnawaz alias Shanu, a resident of Manimajra and a native of Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh, has been booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said the accused, who is a father of two children, was arrested by Sector-39 police following a complaint lodged by the minor's family. According to the FIR, the student had booked an Uber bike from Panchkula to her school in Sector 40 on Friday morning. During the ride, the accused allegedly molested the girl while riding the motorcycle. The victim showed presence of mind and recorded the incident on her mobile phone. When she resisted and raised an alarm, the rider allegedly threatened her and sped away. The bike later skidded near the Sector 37/38 small chowk, leaving the girl injured. The accused fled the spot, but was traced and arrested after police analysed CCTV footage along the route and verified digital evidence. htc...
