Bihar remote controlled by BJP: Rahul, Tejashwi
MUZAFFARPUR/DARBHANGA, Oct. 30 -- Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched the election campaign for the Grand Alliance (GA) on Wednesday from Muzaffarpur in Bihar along with the bloc's chief ministerial candidate and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and others.
Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of stooping to theatrical lows for electoral gains. "Narendra Modi is ready to enact any drama for votes," Gandhi said, as he recounted a purportedly aborted plan for the PM to "take a holy dip in the Yamuna for Chhath Puja-only to discover it was a staged puddle of piped clean water, since the real river is a toxic mess."
He added: "Tell him at a rally, 'Mr. Prime Minister, we'll vote for you if you dance,' and he'll break into the act without a second thought."
"Forget the myth that Nitish Kumar runs this state-it's the BJP pulling strings from afar, with zero regard for Bihar's people, especially the extremely backward classes (EBCs)," he declared, the state lacked basic infrastructures in education and health sectors, forcing people to go outside. Gandhi positioned the GA as the antidote to such "remote-control governance," insisting that under Tejashwi Yadav's leadership, Bihar would forge a new era of equity.
Tejashwi Yadav, on his part, alleged that the PM is interested in opening factories in Gujarat, but wants victory in the assembly elections in Bihar.
"The Prime Minister is interested in opening factories in Gujarat but wants victory in the Bihar polls. This will not happen," Yadav said in Darbhanga as he took a jibe at Bihar chief minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar saying that "the government in the state is being run through remote control by the Bharatiya Janata Party"....
