Kolkataa/Jaipur, Nov. 20 -- A booth level officer (BLO) engaged by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday in Jalpaiguri district, with the deceased's family claiming that she took the extreme step because of the work pressure stemming from the ongoing exercise. The woman, who also worked at a local Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) centre, was found dead in her courtyard on Wednesday. "She told senior officers several times that she was not able to handle the job but they said she must continue. She wanted to resign but they didn't let her," the woman's husband told reporters. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee slammed the ECI over the incident, and said "precious lives are being lost because of the unplanned, relentless workload imposed" by the poll body.htc...
