BDPO caught accepting Rs.40k bribe
AMRITSAR, May 23 -- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Kulwant Singh, block development and panchayat officer BDPO), Rayya, in Amritsar district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000.
A VB official spokesperson said that the arrest was made based on a complaint filed by a resident of Shahpur village in Amritsar district.
"The complainant told the VB that his wife was the sarpanch of Shahpur village from 2019-2024. There were allegations about embezzlement of panchayat funds and of making fake job cards. The complainant alleged that the BDPO, being the enquiry officer, demanded Rs.1 lakh bribe to settle the case," the spokesperson said. "A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused," he said.HTC...
