Bathinda gets state award for promising 'Swachh Shehar'
Chandigarh, July 18 -- Local government minister Ravjot Singh on Thursday claimed that Punjab has improved its rankings in Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 results announced by the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs on Thursday.
In a statement, the minister said that the state is improving cleanliness and sanitation status continuously, adding that 46 urban local bodies (ULBs) have achieved water plus certification - the highest number amongst all states in this survey. "Under the Garbage Free City Star Rating, 25 ULBs secured a one-star rating, which is the highest since 2016," he said.
Mandi Gobindgarh secured a three-star rating, while Bathinda municipal corporation received the State Award for Promising Swachh Shahar. Bathinda's overall rank in India was 51st in the cities with population between 50,000 and 3 lakh.
He said the state is continuing efforts for improving the cleanliness, sanitation facilities and solid waste management. "Funds are being provided to ULBs for strengthening the infrastructure and progress of various development works, including sanitation and cleanliness is being monitored. We are committed to build a cleaner, greener and healthier state," he added. The minister said this is just the beginning and the state would do better in the future.htc...
