Bajwa seeks special package for Punjab border dists
Jalandhar, May 15 -- Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa urged for urgent economic and security interventions to support border districts. Addressing a press conference in Jalandhar, Bajwa said the intense cross-border military exchanges before a ceasefire on May 10 had led to widespread panic, economic disruption, and displacement in six border districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Taran Taran, Amritsar, Ferozepur and Fazilka.
"The union government must introduce a robust economic stimulus package to foster long-term stability and growth in Punjab's border areas," Bajwa said. He added that the Union government must offer tax holidays, similar to those provided in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir between 2003 and 2013.HTC...
