Panchkula, May 18 -- A local court has rejected the regular bail application of Ravinder Kali alias Rajpoot in connection with a violent 2014 attack on the owner of the Dark Knight cafe in Morni Road. The accused faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and offences under the Arms Act. The case has gained notoriety due to the alleged involvement of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in orchestrating the crime. The case was registered in September 2014 under Sections 148, 149, 323, 324, 307, 452, and 427 of the IPC, and Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Chandimandir police station. According to police, on September 20, 2014, around 3 am, a group of 10-12 armed men attacked the cafe owners with swords, sticks, and firearms, intending to kill them. Complainant Kapil, one of the owners, sustained serious injuries along with two others. The motive for the attack was reportedly a year-old dispute between Kapil's friend and some of the assailants. The investigation revealed a conspiracy allegedly led by Inderpreet Parry, who claimed the attack was revenge for Kapil burning his car. Parry's statement implicated Lawrence Bishnoi, stating they conspired in jail, and Bishnoi sent associates to plan the assault. Several arrests were made in the case. Amandeep Joshi alias Rajbir Joshi's statement implicated others, leading to more arrests and weapon recoveries. Parry himself confessed the revenge motive and named numerous accomplices, including Kali. Lawrence Bishnoi was also arrested. Ravinder Kali was arrested on April 28, 2015, and the alleged weapon was recovered. However, his bail was opposed by the prosecution due to his past record of jumping bail (declared a proclaimed offender) and multiple convictions, including attempted murder and drug offences. Considering the circumstances, the court did not deem it appropriate to release the applicant on bail at that stage, and therefore, his bail application was dismissed.htc...
