Chandigarh, June 24 -- Punjab Engineering College's (PEC) computer science engineering students secured an average salary package of Rs.16.7 lakh per annum (LPA), the highest in the institution, during the placement drive, officials said. The department was followed by electronics and communication engineering (Rs.15.6 LPA) and electrical engineering (Rs.12.9 LPA). The highest package offered across all departments was Rs.61 LPA, received by students from both computer science and electronics and communication. Domain wise, there was demand in software and product roles. Software development engineer positions increased by 32% , while product management roles rose by 31%, college officials said.
