Chandigarh, April 8 -- Day temperatures saw a four degree drop on Tuesday as a fresh WesternDisturbance brought rain to the city. At 27.6degC, Tuesday was the lowest day temperature for April seen in the city since 2023 when it had gone down to 25.5degC on April 4. This was also the lowest maximum temperature that the city has seen since March 21 when it was at 25.1degC. On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.9degC. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, more rain is on cards on Wednesday as well. Accordingly, an orange alert for rain, thunderstorms, and hail has been issued. Met officials said thatchances of rain will continue till the early hours of Thursday. The mercury is also expected to slide further down, they added. Met officials said that the IMD observatory in Sector 39 recorded 0.8 mm rain till 5.30 pm while by 8.30 pm, it went up to 5 mm. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature rose from 14.9degC on Monday to 18.8degC onTuesday, which is normal. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature will remain between 22degC and 28degC.
