At 26.4degC, city records warmest day of the season
Chandigarh, Feb. 16 -- Rising steadily over the past two weeks, the city's maximum temperature touched 26.4degC on Sunday, four degrees above normal and the highest of the season.
Earlier on January 22, the maximum temperature had gone up to 26.3degC. The minimum temperature also rose from 9.3degC on Saturday to 10.4degC, normal for this time of the year.
India Meteorological Department director Surender Paul attributed the rising mercury to constant dry weather conditions and westerly winds.
He said while rain was unlikely in the coming week, winds will continue to blow, as experienced over the past few days.
With no rainfall forecast and dry westerly winds prevailing, residents can expect warm and sunny days to persist through the week.HTC...
