Assassination suspect blamed Farooq for terror: Challan
Jammu, May 9 -- A special investigation team (SIT) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday filed a 600-page chargesheet, in connection with the alleged assassination attempt on former chief minister Farooq Abdullah before the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Jammu. The next date of hearing has been fixed for May 19.
"The charge-sheet stated that the accused held former chief minister Farooq Abdullah responsible for terrorism in Kashmir, mass exodus of Hindus from Valley and usurping of their land by the radicals," a senior police officer said.
"The accused strongly felt that terrorism broke out under then chief minister Farooq Abdullah in 1989, who did nothing to contain it and as a result Hindus were hounded out of Kashmir and their land usurped," the officer added. Police said the accused had harboured resentment against Abdullah for more than two decades and had been looking for an opportunity to eliminate him. P6...
