Silchar, June 22 -- Two men have been arrested for raping a 26-year-old woman from Assam's Hailakandi district after they dragged her inside a train coach at Lala Bazar station, police officers said on Saturday, adding that they were produced before a magistrate on Saturday evening. The incident took place on Thursday when the woman, who belongs to the tea tribe community, went to the station with a male relative, who was also allegedly assaulted and threatened by the accused. The woman wanted to book a ticket to Karnataka, where she works along with her husband, they added. "She told us that she was waiting near the platform when the two unknown men dragged her inside an empty coach. While one of them raped her, the other restrained her and aided the crime," a senior officer said on condition of anonymity. "The accused were identified as Binod Baspar, and Pankaj Deb, both aged between 30 and 35, and were arrested on Friday," the officer added.
