Asked to pay toll tax, man opens fire in Kapurthala
Jalandhar, June 27 -- Unidentified miscreants opened fire at toll plaza employees when asked to pay tax at the Dhilwan toll plaza on the Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway.
The incident happened around 12.20am when the toll plaza employees stopped a Hyundai Creta car reportedly without a number plate and asked the driver to pay toll tax, but the occupants of the car refused to pay the tax, said police officials.
The accused tried to escape, but the toll plaza employees put barricades in front of their vehicle.
Infuriated over this, the youths came out of their vehicle and one of them started firing.
Dhilwan station house officer (SHO) Dalwinder Singh said the toll employees had a narrow escape and the accused fled the scene immediately after the firing.
He added that a case has been registered against four persons and the accused are being identified.
The SHO said the accused were being identified on the basis of CCTV footage.
A hunt will be launched after the accused are identified, the SHO added....
