ASHA workers roped in to boost enrolments
CHANDIGARH, April 2 -- As many as 19,000 ASHA workers, along with 900 facilitators, have been roped in by the Punjab government to speed up the enrolments under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY).
Each accredited social health activity (ASHA) worker has been assigned a population of nearly 1,000 residents, covering around 250 households, where they are conducting door-to-door outreach, creating awareness about the scheme, and accompanying families for enrolment at Seva Kendras and Common Service Centres, health minister Dr Balbir Singh said.
"ASHA workers are ensuring that every family is aware and able to enrol," he said, adding that nearly 50,000 residents are enrolling every day and over 35 lakh sehat cards have already been issued.
Districts such as Ludhiana, Patiala, and Jalandhar continue to lead enrolments at scale, reflecting strong participation across both urban and rural areas, he added....
