Arrest warrant issued, cops say will push for Mehron's deportation
BATHINDA, June 18 -- A Bathinda court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against self-styled religious vigilante Amtripal Singh Mehron, wanted in the murder of digital content creator Kanchan Kumari, aka Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amneet Kondal said the warrant would help in the deportation of Mehron, who fled to the UAE on June 10 after allegedly killing Kanchan with his two associates.
"The arrest warrant will be sent to the authorities concerned to get Mehron back to India to face trial in the murder case," said the SSP. Mehron fled the country on June 10, within hours of allegedly strangling Kanchan in Bathinda.
Mehron Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, all nihangs, are accused of the murder of Kanchan for unauthorised moral policing. According to the police, the trio hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Kanchan for making vulgar digital content and hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs.
The SSP said that Jaspreet and Nimratjit, who are in police custody, are identifying the fifth accused. "Our teams are making efforts to nab another accused Ranjit Singh, against whom a lookout circular has been issued. A medical report to determine if the deceased was subjected to sexual assault is still awaited," added the SSP....
