Shimla, May 13 -- Army chief General Bipin Chandra Rawat will visit forward areas during his three-day visit here to have a firsthand view of the security situation and the preparedness of the troops deployed, a defence spokesperson said.

He would also call upon governor Acharya Devvrat, the spokesperson said.

Earlier, Gen Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat, president of Army Wives Welfare Association, arrived here on Sunday, he added.

On arrival at Annandale helipad, the army chief was received by Lieutenant General GS Sangha, chief of staff, Army Training Command (ARTRAC).
