Shimla, Dec. 16 -- Moving towards to reinforce the goal of a Drug-Free Himachal at the grass-roots level, as part of this initiative, simultaneous meetings of Drug De-addiction Committees were convened in 234 highly drug-affected panchayats across the state. The meetings were organized with an aim of strengthening community participation and activating an effective local-level prevention mechanism. These meetings were organised in compliance with the decisions taken during the 6th State-Level NCORD Meeting held at Dharamshala on December 2, 2025, wherein the CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu categorically emphasized that the fight against drugs must evolve from an administrative exercise into a statewide people's movement, with reactivation of Drug De-addiction Committees as a key pillar. During the meetings, local intelligence related to drug trafficking was reviewed, community-based awareness programmes were planned, and detailed deliberations were held on forthcoming prevention and enforcement strategies.
