India, June 11 -- This month brought exciting news for Nature lovers - UNESCO World Heritage Site Valley of Flowers has opened for visitors until October 31. The trek is a verdant paradise with over 600 species of wildflowers, gorgeous views of the Himalayas, and also a pilgrim attraction for those wanting to visit Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib. This beginner-friendly trek sees thousands of tourists every year. If you're planning to visit, here are some things to keep in mind. Travel influencer Naveen Kumar (@solo_suffer), who embarked on a solo trek, shared insights into making the most of a trip to this haven. As per Naveen, one can easily travel with their private car, taxi, or bike. However, the last destination would be Govind Ghat or Joshimath. He suggested staying in Joshimath (14km before Govind Ghat), or in Govind Ghat. From there, travel to Pulna village for 4km. This is where the Valley of Flowers trek begins. The influencer opines that children over the age of 10 can easily do this trek. However, it's always better to consult the doctor and know the kids' health, heart condition, and stamina, since temperatures drop drastically at night at the high-altitude area. Since it's a heritage site that closes at 5pm, camping is not allowed and tourists are asked to leave before or at this time. Though one can visit anytime from June to October, Naveen opines it is best to do the trek as early as possible, because monsoon comes in full force around the months of July and August. This leads to rampant landslides in the area from Rishikesh to Joshimath, making it a risky affair for travellers. The trek is quite simple, and so the influencer advises against getting a guide. Travelling economically, you can budget for the trip between Rs.7,000 and Rs.8,000. But a must is waterproof clothes and trekking shoes....
