Amritsar man held for Making Extortion Calls to mohali resident
Mohali, Nov. 12 -- Police have arrested a man from Amritsar for allegedly making repeated extortion calls to a jewellery shop owner in Phase 3B2, Mohali, and demanding money.
According to police, the shop owner had been receiving threat calls on his office landline in both Mohali and Ludhiana, demanding Rs.2 lakh. The accused was identified as Ajooba, a native of Uttar Pradesh who works as a labourer in Amritsar. SHO Amandeep Kamboj said that during interrogation, the accused revealed that he had obtained the jeweller's contact number from the internet and got the idea of extorting money in a similar way after seeing such things on internet.
