Chandigarh, Jan. 16 -- The Punjab government on Thursday changed school timings for all government, private, aided, and other schools in the state in view of the intense cold conditions. According to an order issued by school education secretary Anindita Mitra, primary schools will now function from 10 am to 3 pm, while middle, high, and senior secondary schools will operate from 10 am to 3.20 pm. The decision has been taken due to severe cold and fog conditions, and the new timings will remain in effect till January 21, the order said. Earlier, the department had twice extended the winter break for all schools until January 13 as a precautionary step to safeguard the health of students and staff.
