India, July 10 -- Mumbai Police arrested Vedika Prakash Shetty, actor Alia Bhatt's former personal secretary on Tuesday evening. Vedika (32) has been accused of forgery and fraud, and embezzling Rs.76.9 lakh over a period of two years from Alia's (32) production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions Private Limited, as well as her personal accounts. She was arrested in Bengaluru based on a complaint filed by Alia's mother, actor-director Soni Razdan in January. Police said she had been absconding and frequently changing locations to evade arrest. She will remain in custody till Thursday. As per the police, Vedika had submitted multiple forged invoices to Alia, which were allegedly signed by the actor. The funds were then diverted to a friend's bank account, who subsequently transferred the money into Vedika's account. They also discovered that she has purchased an iPhone, an iPad, a television set, a refrigerator, an air fryer, and other electronic items using the fraudulently obtained money. The police are trying to recover the money from her. Vedika was Alia's secretary from May 2022 to August 2024. She was responsible for handling the actor's personal and business dealings, including overseeing the operations of her production house.
