AIIMS-Bathinda 1st govt institute to get NABL accreditation for radiology, labs
Bathinda, Dec. 26 -- The Bathinda-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has become the first among institutes of national importance and government institutions across the country to secure National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation for its radiological services and testing laboratories.
Prof Rajiv Kumar, medical superintendent and official spokesperson of the institute, on Thursday said that the milestone represents a major advancement in patient safety, diagnostic accuracy and adherence to the highest standards of healthcare quality.
"NABL accreditation has been achieved across four major laboratory and testing specialities-biochemistry, microbiology, pathology and radiology.
The accreditation is awarded after a rigorous and comprehensive assessment process that recognises the institute's compliance with quality benchmarks and meeting the best practices in diagnostic services," said the official.
The AIIMS executive director, Prof Rattan Gupta, said that it ensures that laboratory investigations and radiological imaging - including blood tests, biopsies, infectious disease testing, CT scan, MRI, and other diagnostic procedures - are performed with the highest standards of precision, safety and reliability.
