Chandigarh, June 17 -- Even as trace rainfall (less than 0.1 mm) was recorded in the city on the intervening night between Sunday and Monday, there was little relief for residents as the sun was back with its full blazing glory. Humidity stayed between 46% and 68%, making matters worse. On Monday, the maximum temperature fell slightly from 37.7degC on Sunday to 37.4degC, still one degree above normal. The minimum temperature fell from 32.7degC to 27.7degC, but was still one degree above normal and offered no relief from the sultry weather in the day. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there are chances of rain on Tuesday, but dry weather will resume on Wednesday. Thereon, more spells of rain are expected from Thursday onwards. Rain activity is expected to go up further over the weekend, as IMD is expecting arrival of pre-monsoon showers by then. On Monday,the northern limit of the monsoon system shifted towards Gujarat, the first movement since May 26. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature may drop further to 34degC and the minimum temperature to 26degC....
