Chandigarh, Sept. 27 -- The city's maximum temperature has remained above normal since monsoon withdrawal, which was declared by the IndiaMeteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday. It is likely to rise further in the coming days, as per the Met officials. Chandigarh IMD director Surender Paul explained that once the monsoon system retreats, an anticyclone system forms, which keeps the air locked, while clear skies lead to a slight rise in the temperature. "This phenomenon will, however, be short-lived as the season change will lead to a drop in both the maximum and minimum temperatures," Paul said. The maximum temperature on Friday was recorded at 35.6degC, unchanged from Thursday, but 3.7 degrees abovenormal. This is the highest thatmercury has gone this month. As per MeT officials, it may go up by two more notches before the end of the month. This is, however, lower than last year when the maximum temperature had gone up to 37.6degC on September 24. The minimum temperature on Friday dropped to 24.2degC, from 24.3degC on Thursday. The minimum was one degree above normal. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature will remain between 35degC and 36degC, while the minimum temperature will remain between 24degC and 25degC....
