After landslide win in Bihar polls, BJP readies Bengal plan
NEW DELHI, Nov. 16 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) stunning performance in Bihar, which paved the way for the National Democratic Alliance, which it leads, to retain power in the state, has set the ball rolling for poll preparations in West Bengal, which goes to polls next year with Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Assam.
According to party leaders the BJP is all set to roll out its election campaign in West Bengal on the issues of "corruption, crime and ghuspaythias (illegal settlers)" and draw up a road map for the overall development of the state and its people. The BJP on Friday won 89 of the 101 seats that it contested in Bihar, which took the NDA's tally to 202 in the 243 member assembly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the win in Bihar has set the stage for an encore in Bengal. In his public address shortly after the big win, the PM said, "The Ganga flows from Bihar to West Bengal. And the river has already paved the way for BJP's victory in Bengal. I assure the people in Bengal that BJP will now work with you to end the Jungleraj in Bengal."
"We are prepared to dislodge the Mamata Banerjee government, which has been supportive of the illegal settlers, the Muslims and Rohingyas from Bangladesh, who have changed the demography of the state," said Sukanta Majumdar, Union minister of state for DoNER....
