AAP MP seeks dedicated police station at Sector 125
Chandigarh, Dec. 28 -- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, has formally requested the Punjab Police to establish a new police station at Sector-125, Kharar, citing serious public safety and law and order concerns due to rapid population growth in the area.
In a demi-official letter to Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Saturday, Kang highlighted that Sector-125 and its surrounding areas have witnessed a sharp rise in population over the past few years, with a large number of migrant residents settling there. He said that the population in and around Sector-125 is now estimated to be around 60,000, putting immense pressure on the existing policing infrastructure. The AAP MP pointed out that the area currently falls under the jurisdiction of Kharar police station, which is located nearly 10 kilometres away. "Due to this distance and the fast-expanding population, timely police response during emergencies, accidents, and law-and-order situations often gets delayed, causing hardship to residents and hampering effective policing," he said, adding that the establishment of a dedicated police station at Sector-125 would improve policing. htc...
