AAP MLA's son fires celebratory shots at wedding, summoned
Ludhiana, Oct. 18 -- Police on Friday summoned Jagpal Singh, the younger son of Gill AAP MLA Jiwan Singh Sangowal, with the weapon used for celebratory fire at a pre-wedding party in Gill village of Ludhiana district.
A video clip showing Jagpal firing in the air has sparked off a controversy after it was shared widely on social media. Jagpal's elder brother, Davinder Singh, alias Laadi, is seen appearing to restrain him after he fired a few gunshots.
Ludhiana assistant commissioner of police (south) Harjinder Singh said that the MLA's son has been summoned for questioning. "He has been asked to appear with the weapon seen in the video for verification. Appropriate action will follow after the inquiry," the officer said.
Responding to the controversy, MLA Sangowal admitted that it was his son in the video but claimed he was firing from a toy gun. "The opposition is spreading this video to malign my party and my image. The gun shown in the footage is a toy," he said.
Meanwhile, the investigation is underway to ascertain the authenticity of the video and the weapon used....
