Chandigarh, Dec. 2 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday said that leaders rejected by the people of Punjab, including former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, his relative Simranjeet Singh Mann, and former deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, are once again dreaming of returning to power. Alleging a 20-year-old nexus between Capt Amarinder and the Badal family, Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema claimed that Punjab will no longer tolerate a political landscape dominated by these two families. He alleged that the two families rotated power between 2002 and 2022, systematically enriching themselves and protecting each other from legal action. "Between 2002 and 2007 (when the Congress was in power), cases were filed against the Badal family, but action was delayed. When the SAD-BJP government took over in 2007, all cases were immediately quashed and shelved," he alleged at a press conference, a day after Capt Amarinder advocated an alliance between the BJP and the SAD for the 2027 elections. Cheema further alleged that during his 2017-2022 term, Capt acted more as a BJP chief minister than of the Congress. Reacting to former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh's recent remarks that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on its own, does not have a future in the state, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said he completely agrees with him. Capt Amarinder had recently said that the BJP needs to have an alliance with the Akalis to form a government inPunjab. "With or without allies, the BJP has no future in the state as the party has completely alienated and antagonised Punjabis with its anti-Punjab policies. Both parties have been wiped out from Punjab and they had no scope of revival or redemption. Even if they align together, they will not make any difference as zero plus zero is always a zero," said Warring. He added, "But I appreciate one thing - Capt Sahab has become wiser in hindsight and has shown the mirror to his own party."...
