India, Dec. 22 -- The weekend witnessed the release of Time and Transience, a book of photographs by Bhupinder Brar, marked by an audio-visual presentation and a lively interaction with theatre artiste Neelam Man Singh and photographer Diwan Manna. Brar, a professor emeritus of Panjab University, is a professor of political science, a Hindi poet and an avid photographer. As per painter Sidharth, "Brar's photographs offer something profoundly different. They invite the eye to simply see, as if encountering the world for the first time, with childlike curiosity and openness." Speaking during the discussion, Manna complimented Brar's inspiring journey - born into a Jat Sikh family in a Punjab village, he went on to study at reputed institutions, carving a place for himself in academics while remaining deeply connected with the creative arts. Man Singh also spoke about the book and the significance of photographs that evoke pain, longing and pathos without slipping into sentimentality. The event was attended by professors, artists and elite connoisseurs of the city....
