India, Sept. 5 -- Chandigarh's Pracheen Kala Kendra resonated with rhythm and devotion as audiences were treated to an enchanting classical dance recital. The occasion was the 311th monthly Baithak programme at the ML Koser Auditorium, where celebrated classical dance exponent Rahul Gupta and his son, Bharat Gupta, mesmerised art lovers with their mastery of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. The Wednesday evening opened with Bharat's Kuchipudi invocation to Lord Krishna. His expressive gestures and rhythmic footwork immediately set a devotional tone, earning him a warm applause from the audience. His father followed with a Bharatanatyam piece dedicated to Lord Shiva, blending technical finesse with spiritual depth that left spectators visibly moved. In the next segment, Rahul presented the 'Ashta Madhurya', portraying the many facets of Lord Krishna through subtle expressions and lyrical storytelling. Bharat responded with a vigorous performance in honour of Lord Ganesha, combining power with elegance. Among the highlights was Rahul's evocative presentation on 'Adiyogi Shiva', which reflected his decades of dedication and artistry. Bharat returned with a Bharatanatyam piece in praise of Lord Vishnu. His his rhythm and 'bhava' earned him admiration from connoisseurs in the hall. The recital concluded with a traditional 'Mangalam', jointly performed by father and son.
