9kg heroin seized along Pak border, 5 held
Ferozepur, Dec. 5 -- The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday apprehended five narco-smugglers and seized over 9 kg of heroin in two separate operations along the Pakistan border.
In a release, a BSF spokesman said that in the first operation, conducted in coordination with the CIA unit of Fazilka, the troops intercepted three smugglers at Tahliwala village in Fazilka district. The team recovered two packets of heroin (gross weight: 1 kg), a mobile phone, and a motorcycle from their possession. The accused, residents of Hazara Ram Singh, Dharmuwala, and Basti Kera Wali villages, were handed over to the police for further legal action.
In the second incident, BSF along with the anti-narcotics task force (ANTF), Amritsar apprehended two smugglers near Balharwal village and recovered eight packets of heroin (gross weight: 8.643 kg), three mobile phones, and a car.
The arrested individuals, hailing from Ballahrwal and Awan Lakha Singh villages, are now in ANTF custody....
