AMRITSAR, Dec. 22 -- Police have seized 8 kilograms of heroin and a drone in the Gharinda police station area of Amritsar, officials said on Sunday. The recovery was made as part of the state government's ongoing anti-drug campaign, said officials. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) for Amritsar rural Suhail Mir said the operation was carried out under the supervision of Attari deputy superintendent of police Yadwinder Singh. The police had received specific information regarding a suspicious object resembling a drone that had fallen in the wheat fields near a drain at Neshta village. On receiving the tip-off, a special search team was formed and a search operation was initiated at the location. During the search, the team discovered a broken drone along with a heavy packet wrapped in yellow tape. On inspection, the packet was found to contain heroin, which weighed a total of 8 kilograms, said the police. A case has been registered under Sections 21, 23, 28, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, as well as Sections 10, 11, and 12 of the Aircraft Act, 1934....
