6 held for pelting PCR vehicle with stones
Chandigarh, Sept. 13 -- The Chandigarh police have arrested six youths and apprehended two juveniles for attacking a PCR vehicle and threatening police staff during a night patrol in Ram Darbar.
The incident took place in the intervening night of September 10 and 11, when lady ASI Surinder Kaur, posted with PCR and was on duty as in-charge of the PCR vehicle Suga-1 along with other officers, was patrolling near a market close to Gurudwara in Phase 2, Ram Darbar. Around seven to eight masked boys armed with swords, wooden sticks, rods, and stones suddenly attacked the PCR vehicle by pelting stones.
Although the PCR driver managed to drive away, the assailants regrouped and later returned to threaten the police staff with sharp-edged weapons before fleeing the spot. A case was registered at Sector-31 police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. During investigation, police teams led by inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO, PS-31, arrested Arman Khan, alias Sangi, 19, Abhishek, alias Kalu, 22, and Vikash, alias Kaku, 18 on September 11. The following day, three more accused-Nikhil, alias Pandta, 21, Piyush, alias Happy, 21, and Shivam, alias Gunni, 18-were nabbed, along with two juveniles....
