Gurugram, June 12 -- Faridabad Police have booked five senior officials of a private hospital and an MBBS-qualified doctor who allegedly posed as a cardiologist, treating nearly 4,000 patients at a civil hospital-around 60 of whom underwent surgeries-resulting in at least three confirmed deaths, officers familiar with the investigation said. The man, police said on Wednesday, posed as a super-specialist without the required qualifications. The main accused, aged between 45 and 50, falsely claimed to be a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Cardiology and used the name and credentials of Dr Pankaj Mohan, a real cardiologist who eventually alerted authorities. He was employed at Meditrina Hospital, which operates a cardiac unit at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. As per the FIR, the accused used Dr Mohan's name and registration number on prescriptions. When confronted, he issued a written apology and pledged not to repeat the offence. Advocate Sanjay Gupta, who discovered the case, filed complaints in February with state officials after the suspect abruptly stopped reporting to work. With no action taken, he later submitted evidence to DCP (NIT) Maqsood Ahmed, including documentation of three deaths allegedly linked to the fake doctor. Police have now booked the hospital's chairman and managing director (CMD) Dr N Pratap Kumar, HR head Dileep Nair, and three others, in addition to the imposter. "We've asked for full patient records since his appointment in July 2024," DCP Ahmed said, adding arrests are imminent. Dr Kumar claimed, "All hiring is done by HR. I've been wrongly named." Nair admitted, "He submitted forged MD and DNB papers. Our state cluster head approved it. We don't conduct physical background checks."...
