Ferozepur, Sept. 16 -- Fazilka Police on Monday busted an arms smuggling network, arresting two accused with five pistols and ammunition, officials said. Sharing details, Fazilka senior superintendent of police Gurmeet Singh said that the operation was carried out by the CIA staff Fazilka-2 during routine patrolling and checking near Dana Mandi in Ladhuka. The police party apprehended two suspects, identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gori, a resident of Tahli Wala Bodla village, and Surinder Singh, a resident of Dhani Kahana Ram, he added. "During the search, five .30-bore pistols, nine magazines, and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession. The accused had concealed the weapons in a bag at the time of interception," the SP said. A case under Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered at the police station Sadar in Fazilka, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the weapons and uncover possible links to wider smuggling networks," the SP added. The fresh seizure comes days after 27 pistols, magazines, and cartridges were seized from the two accused on September 11. A day later, on September 12, 18 pistols were seized by the cops....
