Kapurthala, Nov. 15 -- Kapurthala police on Friday arrested five people from Jalandhar for opening fire at a woman. The accused were identified as Dev Darshan, Sooraj Thapar, Krish Lahoria, Harmandeep Singh and Anmol Kumar, all residents of Kapurthala city. Police also recovered a .30-bore pistol used in the crime. The victim, identified as Manpreet Kaur, 30, suffered a bullet injury after she was attacked on Thursday evening while returning home from work. She remains admitted to a local hospital. SP Prabhjot Singh Virk said acting swiftly on the victim's complaint, police collected CCTV footage from the crime scene and formed special teams to track the movement of the accused, who were subsequently traced to Jalandhar. He said Sooraj was known to the victim and had personal enmity with her. "Sooraj orchestrated the entire attack to settle scores with the victim," he said.
