Hyderabad, July 16 -- A 43-year-old Communist Party of India leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants in broad daylight when he was on his morning walk at Malakpet in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning, the police said. The deceased was identified as Chandu Naik, a state committee member of the CPI. His wife Nari Bai and a few of his friends were also present when the miscreants who came in a car, attacked him and sprinkled chilli powder in his eyes, before firing five rounds to kill him. Hyderabad DCP S Chaitanya Kumar said the incident happened at around 7.30 am when Naik, along with his wife and others were going on a morning walk at Shalivahana Nagar Park. "We are investigating whether the murder was due to old rivalries or any land disputes," he said. Police said all four accused involved surrendered to the police later in the afternoon....
