4 Maoists killed in MP encounter
Bhopal, June 15 -- At least four Maoists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, officials aware of the matter said, adding that the operation was ongoing.
The incident took place in the forests of Pachama Dadri village under Rupjhar police station limits.
According to police, an operation carried out by the Hawk force and district police was launched on Saturday morning after information was received about movement of Maoists in the region. "Information was received about the camps and movement of Maoists. The operation was launched on Saturday morning," Balaghat SP Aditya Mishra said. He said that the Maoists opened fire after security personnel located them in the forest and urged them to surrender. "The Maoists were seen in the forest. They were asked to surrender, but, they started firing. Forces retaliated and gunned down four," he said, adding that the deceased were yet to be identified.
The superintendent said that a search operation was underway, adding that forces recovered a grenade launcher and a self-loading rifle among other weapons from the site....
