Amritsar, Nov. 3 -- A sacrilege incident was reported during an Akhand Path (non-stop recitation) organised at a house in Shahura village, falling under the Lopoke police station on Sunday. According to Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee president Tarlochan Singh Sohal and Baba Satnam Singh, during an Akhand Path organised by a family in the village, a migrant labourer employed by the family, hurled a shoe at Granthi Singh, who was seated at the tabia (the place where Guru Granth Sahib is installed). This act amounted to an insult both to the Guru Granth Sahib and the reciting scripture reader, they added. As per villagers, the family allegedly attempted to conceal the incident and sent the labourer away. However, leaders of the local religious organisations caught the labourer, along with others, and handed them over to the police. Upon receiving information about the incident, Ajnala deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Gurvinder Singh and Lopoke station house officer Satpal Singh, reached the spot. Police have registered a case against Jagjit Singh, Sukhjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and Siri Raju, who have been arrested, and investigation has begun. HTC...
