36th All India Boxing Championship commences at Sharda Sarvahitkari
Chandigarh, Oct. 7 -- The stage was set at Sharda Sarvahitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-40 D, as the 36th All India Boxing Championship, orchestrated by the Vidya Bharati Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Sansthan, commenced with great fervour on October 6, 2025.
This prestigious national event witnessed a magnificent gathering of 247 pugilists, comprising 167 boys and 80 girls, who converged from nine regions across the nation, their spirits high and ambitions soaring.
Guiding the fate of these athletes is a distinguished panel of 25 officials and judges, ensuring the highest standards of sportsmanship and fairness throughout the four-day championship, which will run until October 9.
The evening ceremony, commencing at 7.00 pm, was imbued with a sense of tradition and honour.
Dignitaries were welcomed with a ceremonial 'Tilak', symbolising respect and auspicious beginnings.
The event was formally inaugurated by the chief guest, the revered and Dronacharya Award-winning Shiv Singh, who kindled the ceremonial lamp, casting a luminous glow on the promises of the days to come.
This was followed by a soulful rendition of the Saraswati Vandana, invoking blessings for knowledge and victory.
The occasion was further graced by the esteemed presence of Surendra Atri, patron of Vidya Bharati Northern Zone, whose support underscored the significance of this national gathering.
Following the official declaration of the championship open, the air filled with determination as all the participants took a solemn oath, pledging to compete with unwavering passion, integrity, and true sportsman spirit.
The entire school community played a pivotal role in orchestrating this grand event, their meticulous efforts and warm hospitality setting a remarkable stage preparing students for the nation's future boxing champions.
