Hoshiarpur, July 4 -- A migrant from Bihar and his two daughters were killed, while three other members of the family were injured when the roof of their rented house collapsed at Ahiyapur village near Tanda amid heavy rain early on Thursday. Villagers rushed to the rescue of the family and pulled the injured out of the rubble. They were taken to various hospitals but three of them were declared brought dead. The incident occurred around 5.30am, station house officer (SHO) inspector Gurwinderjit Singh said. "The deceased has been identified as Shankar, 40 and his daughters Shivani, 13, and Pooja, 4. His wife Priyanka said that she was cleaning the house, and the rest of the family was asleep when the roof collapsed," the SHO added. According to preliminary investigation, the house was old. It had a wooden roof layered with mud, which collapsed due to rain, he said. People in the neighbourhood said that the migrant family was advised to shift from this place, but they did not pay any heed. The house owner was not available for comments....
