3 get life term in 2017 Fatehabad murder case
Rohtak, April 2 -- A local court in Fatehabad on Wednesday sentenced three men to life imprisonment in a 2017 murder case.
Additional sessions judge Amit Garg also imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh each on the three convicts, identified as Mahender, Pawan and Ramesh Chand.
According to the police, the victim, Roshan, who resided in Fatehabad's Bhattu area, had left home for work on January 6, 2017, but not returned.
His family members were later informed that he had met with an accident while travelling on his bike, and that he is under treatment.
"During treatment at a private hospital in Hisar, Roshan briefly gained consciousness on January 13 and told his relatives that he was standing outside the vegetable market in Bhattu on January 6 when Mahender, Pawan Kumar and an another unidentified person abducted him in a Mahindra Bolero SUV," the police said.
He further revealed that he was taken to an unidentified place where the trio thrashed him mercilessly before abandoning him on a road.
Fatehabad district attorney Devender Mittal said that the victim had alleged that his wife Savita alias Kavita had extra-marital relations with Mahender and the duo had planned to eliminate him.
"Roshan died during treatment on January 21. The three men were pronounced guilty on murder charges but Savita was acquitted due to lack of evidence," said Mittal.
Mittal said that he had argued in the court that the offence
committed by the convicts is grave and serious in nature. "They had attacked him on the head with bricks, and it was clear that the intention was to kill him. The gravity of the offence can be gauged from the fact that they wrongfully informed the family members of the deceased that the victim had met with an accident," said Mittal, adding that they do not deserve any leniency....
