Mohali, Oct. 5 -- Police booked three men for allegedly cheating a Gurdaspur resident of more than Rs.3 crore on the pretext of opening a company in Mohali. The complainant, Paramjeet Singh, told police that the accused Avtar Singh, Jaswant Singh and Parminderpal Singh convinced him to invest money in their proposed venture. He said the accused assured him that a company would be set up and promised high returns on his investment. According to the complaint, several meetings were held at Gateway City, Sector 115, Mohali, where the accused presented documents related to the alleged company. Later, it was found that the documents were forged. Singh alleged that over a period of time, he invested around Rs.3 crore 15 lakh, which the accused misappropriated instead of setting up the business. Police said the accused used fake paperwork and meetings to gain the complainant's trust. A case has been registered against Avtar Singh, Jaswant Singh and Parminderpal Singh under sections 310(2), 330(2), 330(3), 340(2) and 315(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)....
