3 accused held after shootout in Kurukshetra
Karnal, Nov. 29 -- The Kurukshetra police on Friday said that they have nabbed three accused behind the murder of a shopkeeper, after a shootout between them near Jirbari village on NH-44.
Inspector Mohan Lal, in-charge of CIA-2 said that the team received a tip-off that three boys on a motorcycle, suspected of being armed and carrying weapons, were roaming near the village and could commit a crime.
Acting on the information, Lal said the police team reached the service lane towards Karnal, where they spotted the three boys and asked them to stop, when they fired four rounds at the police team.
"The police officers, defending themselves, returned fire, injuring two of the accused in the leg. The police team safely arrested the third accused. The injured accused were admitted to LNJP hospital for treatment. They were identified as Nitin and Anmol, residents of Kurukshetra, and Sahil, resident of Delhi," the inspector said.
The cops seized illegal weapons, ammunition and the bike used in the crime, after which a case was registered at Thanesar police station. The men were behind the November 15 crime, when they had shot at a shopkeeper at Khedi Markanda, who died during treatment at PGIMER, Chandigarh later....
