Mohali, Dec. 6 -- A 28-year-old man who had recently started working at a hotel in Zirakpur died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday morning. Police said the cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination. Hotel operator Keshav Bansal, who had taken the hotel on lease, told police that the deceased had approached him for work on Tuesday. He was asked to join duty the next morning. Bansal said that when the man reported for duty on Wednesday, he collapsed soon after entering the premises. "When we checked him, his condition looked serious. We immediately informed the 112 emergency helpline," he said. The ambulance staff rushed the man to the Dera Bassi hospital, where doctors initially said his condition was critical and he would need to be referred to Chandigarh. However, shortly after, doctors declared him dead. According to the hotel owner, narcotic capsules were found in the man's pocket, raising suspicion that a drug overdose might have caused the death. Investigating officer ASI Satinder Singh said, "Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was a native of Uttar Pradesh. His identity, however, has not been fully established. The body has been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem," he said. Singh added that only the medical report would confirm whether the death was due to a drug overdose....
