GAYAJI, July 27 -- A 26-year-old woman who fainted during a government recruitment exam was allegedly gang-raped in an ambulance while on her way to the hospital in Gaya district of Bihar, police said on Saturday, adding the ambulance driver and technician has been arrested in connection with the incident. The incident took place on July 24 when the woman, a resident of Imamganj in Gaya, had appeared for a recruitment drive for home guards in Bodh Gaya area of the district. During a race as part of the physical examination, the woman lost consciousness, police said "When the woman fainted, she was rushed to the Anugrah Narain Medical College and Hospital at Gayaji in an ambulance," city superintendent of police (SP) Ramanand Kumar Kaushal said. "After she regained consciousness, she alleged that she was raped inside the vehicle," he added. Using CCTV footage, police identified the two accused -- ambulance driver Vinay Kumar from Utren village of Gaya district and technician Ajit Kumar from Chandanpur village of Nalanda district, officials said. "We thereafter detained the driver and a technician who were in the ambulance. The woman also identified them. Their reply was not satisfactory, so they were arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita," the SP said, adding that both accused were arrested within two hours of receiving the information. Based on the complaint filed by the woman, a first information report (FIR) was registered at the Bodh Gaya police station against the two accused under section 70 (1) (gang rape) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said that the medical examination of the woman has been conducted, and officials are awaiting the report to confirm rape. "The incident is deplorable. The guilty may have been caught, but the administration is obviously unable to prevent such crimes. The situation is scary, and I regret that I am supporting a regime that is incapable of controlling law and order," Union minister Chirag Paswan said....
