20-year-old woman's body found in suitcase near highway: Police
BATHINDA, Feb. 12 -- A semi-burnt body of an unidentified woman was found in a suitcase dumped in the fields of Behman Diwana village, located on the Bathinda-Fazilka national highway, on Wednesday.
Police authorities said that the deceased appeared to be nearly 20 years old and the body had deep injury marks.
Bathinda DSP (rural) Harvinder Singh Sra said the victim had a tattoo that spelt "Kaku" written in English near the neck. "Prima facie, it appears that the victim was first killed and then there was an attempt to burn the body. The condition of the corpse suggests that the crime was committed recently. We are contacting the police authorities in the adjoining areas of Haryana and Punjab district to identify her," said the DSP.
Sra said villagers spotted stray dogs dragging the suitcase and alerted the authorities. A forensic team visited the site to collect evidence. The police are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas for leads in the crime....
