2 smugglers held with cannabis in U'khand
Haldwani, Nov. 12 -- A joint team of the police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested two suspected drug smugglers in the Kathgodam area of Haldwani and recovered 1.13 kg of hashish (concentrated form of cannabis), police officers said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Nainital SSP Manjunath TC said the arrests were made following a tip-off. A joint team was formed under the supervision of Haldwani circle officer (CO) Nitin Lohani that spotted two men roaming under suspicious circumstances on the Colltax Canal Covering Road in Kathgodam, carrying bags in their hands, late on Monday evening. They have been identified as Sonu Sahu (25), son of Ramesh Chandra Sahu, a resident of Sahu Dharamshala, Indiranagar, and Kailash (21), son of Raju Ram, a resident of Pinaro village, Bhimtal. Police recovered 607-gm hashish from Sonu and 526 gms from Kailash.
"A case has been registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act," the SSP said....
