AMRITSAR, Sept. 24 -- The Amritsar rural police arrested a smuggler and recovered two pistols and 3kg of heroin, officials said. Sharing details, superintendent of police (detective) Aditya Warrier said that the CIA wing, Amritsar Rural, received a tip-off that the accused, identified as Gurdev Singh, was into large-scale heroin smuggling and was on his way to deliver a consignment on his scooter. "Acting swiftly, the CIA team laid a trap and apprehended him from Avan-Ramdas road. The accused hails from Nisoke village of Amritsar district. Police recovered one .30-bore pistol with four magazines, 50 .30-bore cartridges, one 9MM Glock pistol with a magazine and 50 9mm cartridges, along with a heroin consignment," he said. "The property acquired by the accused through drug money is also being investigated, and if any such asset comes into light, the same will be frozen," the SP added....
