2 more admitted to hospital in kolkata with nipah symptoms
Kolkata, Jan. 15 -- A junior doctor and a nurse were admitted in the Infectious Diseases and Beliaghata General Hospital (ID & BG Hospital) in Kolkata after they developed early symptoms of Nipah virus infection, officials aware of the matter said.
"A junior doctor and a nurse from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital have been admitted to the ID & BG Hospital since Tuesday. They had come in contact with one of the nurses who had already tested positive for Nipah virus," said a state health department official.
"They have been kept in isolation. Their samples have been collected and sent for tests. We are yet to get the reports," said another official.
The two nurses are undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Barasat in North 24 Parganas. Their condition was stated to be critical. Around 38 medical staff from the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, who had come in contact with one of the nurses, were asked to isolate at home. htc...
